Studying The Behavior of Cold-Formed Steel Sections in Lightweight Buildings

Over the last decade, use of cold-formed steel (CFS) sections has increased significantly increasing in lightweight buildings and many other industrial constructions worldwide. The present research paper aims to investigate distributed load capacity CFS buildings. Three built-up were investigated for column three girder a frame building study case. Channels, channels with lip, sigma section, hollow and/or plates used obtain profiles frame. Self-tapping screws applied assemble elements each section. finite element (FE) model was frames using ABAQUS program. A total nine tested till failure, their behavior studied. FE validated data from prior tests. Different characteristics affecting studied model, including profile, grade, thickness, longitudinal spacing between (fasteners), cross-sectional area. capacities obtained models compared develop perfect section parameter.
